This ACLS Certification course reflects the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC and ILCOR International Consensus on CPR and ECC Science with Treatment Recommendations.

Learn to identify and treat a cardiac event in this online ACLS course that teaches advanced cardiac life support according to the latest American Heart Association guidelines.  The ACLS Certification course recognizes life-threatening clinical situations and provides initial care information.  Build skills in the urgent treatment of an adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies through our ACLS course and exam. Successful completion of both the online course and an in-person skills test is needed for advanced cardiac life support certification.  The ACLS certification exam will display results immediately after completion.       Frequently Asked Questions

      When will I receive my certification card?

      Recertification: You will receive your certification card within five business days of successfully completing your re-certification exam. If you need your card sooner, please select "expedite shipping". There is a $35 fee for express shipping. To ensure next day delivery, we must receive your “expedite shipping” request before 2:00 pm Central Time.

      Initial certification: If you are taking the initial certification course you will receive your certification card upon successful completion of the skills test.

      Do I need to take an in-person skills test for initial certification?

      For initial certification yes, you must take a skills test. Some things to remember:

      • The skills tester may charge you an additional fee.
      • You MUST bring a copy of your online exam results to the skills test certifying that you have passed the online exam.
      • At the end of your online exam you can print out the skills test checklist. Take the checklist to your skills tester.
      • You have 60 days after you pass the online exam to take the skills test.
      • After you pass the skills test, have your evaluator fax the results to Health Education Solutions, 888.782.8019.

      If my certification has expired, can I still take the online examination?

      Yes. We provide you with online study content to help you prepare for your recertification.

      What is the format and passing score of the ACLS and PALS exams?

      The ACLS and PALS exams are made up of 50 multiple choice questions. You will have 90 minutes to complete the exam. The questions are based on the learning objectives and case studies of our online content. Your test is graded instantly. You must score at least 84 percent to pass.  If you don't pass the exam, you will have the opportunity to review the questions you answered incorrectly and reset and retake your exam.

      I failed the exam. Now what?

      You are entitled to one retake at no additional charge.  If you do not receive a passing score, you will be provided with directions to review and reset your exam online.

      What is your refund policy?

      Initial certification courses are 100% refundable if not approved by your employer unless you have requested continuing education credit. Contact us at 866.511.4637 within 48 hours of completing your initial exam if you are requesting a refund.

      If you requested continuing education credit you are not eligible to receive a refund. We transmit your CE information to the agency you requested as soon as you complete the course and exam.

      How long is my certification valid?

      Once you successfully complete the course (and skills testing, if required), you will receive a certification card, which is valid for two years.

      Will I earn CE hours for taking the ACLS and PALS certification or re-certification courses?

      You may earn continuing education hours after successfully completing the ACLS or PALS courses and exams. A full list of entities that have approved our courses for continuing education credit and how you receive your credit hours can be viewed here. If you would like CE from an agency not listed, please call our support line at 866.511.4637 or email us at info@healthedsolutions.com . At any one time we may be pending approval from additional agencies.

      How do I retake an exam?  

      If you don't pass an exam on the first try, you will have the opportunity to review any questions you answered incorrectly and reset your exam.  You will be able to retake the entire exam one time at no additional charge. 

      Can I find out what I got wrong on the exam?

      Within My HES, under Next Steps, you can select to Review an exam that you did not pass.  You will then be presented with the opportunity to reset your exam when you are ready to retake it.

      Does this course follow the 2010 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for CPR and ECC?

      Yes.  All ACLS and PALS courses have been updated to reflect the 2010 Guidelines.  The 2010 AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) contain the expert recommendations for application of the ILCOR International Consensus on CPR and ECC Science with Treatment Recommendations.
